Microsoft Edge 95 users may rejoice, since it has just been released on the Stable channel. This update is noteworthy since it is also the first since the browser committed to a four-week release schedule.
If you remember, Microsoft Edge 86 and 87 were the first to get PDF enhancements, so it’s wonderful to see the others follow suit.
Features that are new
Despite the lack of showy features, the browser’s new Efficiency mode is a nice addition. It will be phased in over time and is anticipated to work in tandem with the sleeping pills function.
The browser will be able to manage resources and preserve battery life when users enable the Efficiency mode. The function will be engaged automatically when a laptop enters power saving mode.
Enhancements to PDF
The upgrade will also include Microsoft Word-like capabilities, such as the option to reopen a document and start up where users left off.
When filling out forms, support for free-form text fields has been introduced, as well as the ability to add notes to PDF documents.
Design of Windows 11
As you may be aware, many programs are now designed to work with Windows 11, and Microsoft Edge is no exception. It has a fluid design that includes in-browser menus and right-click menus.
Downloads, collections, and password security have all been improved.
The following items are included in the release:
- In Microsoft Edge, you can now see File Explorer support for SharePoint Online libraries. However, the Microsoft Edge policy must be enabled.
- File URL URLs in the intranet zone will now open in Windows File Explorer.
- The downloading experience has been improved, with support for PWAs and WebView included. Drag and drop is also supported in File Explorer and Desktop.
- Collections now includes citation support, and the whole experience has enhanced, especially for students and instructors.
- You can now change your passwords with fewer clicks and in less time. You’ll be led to the Change Password page, although it’s only accessible on a few sites right now.
- On Sign-Up pages, you may now create accounts automatically with extra help.
